Black Sox begin preparation for 2013 Season
Entering the 2013 season, the Black Sox will look to rebound from a season that saw them come up
just shy of making the playoffs. This is the first time the Sox have missed the playoffs since 2009.
While the Sox did show their customary resilience down the stretch winning 7 of 8, the Sox were unable to overcome
the hole cause by a 1-9 June.
While the Sox will return several core members who have been with the team, the roster will once see considerable turnover.
Not returning for the 2013 season will be All-Star 1B/3B Collin Riggs as well as key contributers C Joe Gil and OF Chris Brown.
The 2013 Sox team will be without 1B/3B Andy Kurzon for the first time since he joined the team in 1997.
Looking to fill the void left by these four players will be players joinging the Sox from various different background. Joining the team from Lesley University will be 1B/P Kevin Hopwood
and P/OF Ryan Genua. Joe Cloutier, a veteran of the Royal Rooters League, will join the team as an OF/1B. Will Baker will return to the Yawkey League for the first time since 2008.
He had previously played for the West Roxbury Devils. Also joinging the team are Andrew Blair, who played at Salem State and Matt King.
With the new additions to the roster and the continued maturity of its core roster, the Sox will be looking to improve on their 2012 campaign
and look to return to the playoffs.
